Assoc. Prof. A. J. Aletras obtained his diploma (Chemistry) in 1977 and Ph.D. (Biochemistry) in 1985 from the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras. He is co-author of 34 research publications in peer review international journals. His work is cited more than 440 times and his H index is 12.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
● Study of extracellular matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) implication in various pathologic conditions, such us cancer proliferation and metastasis, arthritis, arthroplasty loosening, skin and lung diseases, and nasal polyps.
● Study of antagonistic effect of TGF-β1 on IL-1β and TNF-α -induced expression of MMPs in fibroblasts of various origins.
● Study of TGF-β1 and proteasome role in pathogenesis of arthritis, nasal polyps, and lung diseases. Their effects on the expression of MMPs, TIMPs, cytokines, and prostaglandins in fibroblasts and chondrocytes.
